Review of A Fish Called Wanda (1988) by Rachel H — 29 Jul 2012
A conservative rating for what my father told me was one of his favourite movies of all time. I found myself laughing quite a lot with this film, and though it sagged at times, it deserves its place on the list of Best Comedies of all time.
It has great performances, especially from Kevin Kline, who made the entire movie and ended up winning an Oscar for it. Jaime Lee Curtis, Michael Palin and John Cleese (amongst a few others) also give great ones, but they all pale in comparison to Kline.
Also, the ending and the climax leading up to it are the best parts of the film. Honestly, I don't know what to say about it, it's quite difficult to describe. I'll have to give it a second viewing (hopefully many viewings in the future).
I'm just going to say that if you want to check out a good comedy, you should watch this movie. Oh, and I'm probably going to move it up half a star, this is just a rating for now.
