Review of A Film Unfinished (2010) by Jack G — 13 Oct 2010
Right up there with Night & Fog as a tale of the holocaust that floors you. In fact this might have engaged me more than Resnais film in terms of giving me something I didn't know about coupled with the obvious but all too real horror of what went on in the Ghetto.
In this case what happens when propoganda becomes a form of ritualized torture by way of "staged scenes"? The small lies within truthiness made by the SS is staggering. It's powerful enough to show the dead bodies and such, and it is, but to add to it an analysis of how to distort an image of a people makes it masterful work.
