A Film Unfinished is less of a "film" and more of an essay. As such, it can drag at times or, even, confuse and bore. Yet, when thinking back on it I think: I've just watched an actual unfinished four reels of a Nazi Propaganda film.
In this vein, the film is of epic importance. The one thing that I'm left with after seeing all those haunting images is how subtle the German filmmakers were, staging scenes comprised of both the "rich" and poor (dying) Jews with the aim of showing the Jews as class-driven, uncaring monsters - something I never would have picked up without the audio commentary .
