Review of A Face in the Crowd (1957) by Dave W — 09 Feb 2008
Andy Griffith will scare you in this early picture of his. I think Herr Rove and his protege, W, based all their political maneuvering on the paradigm offered in this film. The movie's 50 years old, and things haven't improved a lick.
Plus, the public has only become more stupid. Today, Lonesome Roads wouldn't be a king-maker; he'd be at the top of the ticket, and the salt of the earth would be singing hosannas while they held him up as he walks all over them.
