Review of A Face in the Crowd (1957) by Dan D — 02 Oct 2008
Incredibly relevant film. Especially these days. In a world of infinite communication and infinite rhetoric, who's to say your thoughts are your own? Or have they merely been carefully cultivated by on-air tv personalities, ad men, and commercial jingles? Watching this film you can probably draw many comparisons to this year's election.
(Bill O'Reilly comes to mind) You can also see plenty of parallels between this film and the way in which real politicians would come to be decided. This is not your dad's Andy Griffith, this is Kazan's.
And he's fucking bad ass.
