Review of A Doll's House (1973) by Hosam O — 07 Jul 2008
This movie just made me mad. Overall horrible performances. Hopkins is pretty good, but he made us feel SORRY for him in the end-- he cannot do that! You have to see the reason why Nora is leaving him and that there is no other choice.
Also, Ann-Marie was pretty good as well. Other than that, this movie was crap, really. I hate saying that about Ibsen and about actors who are my superiors... but things just lacked so much. I am all for plays being captured on film.
.. but this would work if there was a better director who GUIDED these actors! They seemed so lost. Nothing really as it should be. Just stinky. I only give it two stars because of the two somewhat good performances, it's Ibsen, and it has sentimental value for me.
That's all.
