If you read the books, you'll love the movie. Yes it's very emotional, but I knew that going in. Actually the books dealt with more loss than the movie does. Anyone who has ever loved a pet can appreciate this movie.
It only made me love mine even more! I would highly recommend this movie. LOVED IT!
