Review of A Dirty Shame (2004) by Matt E — 11 Jan 2011
Spoiler: Chris Isaak is sexually liberated by being concussed by a turd David Hasselhoff shat on an airplane. This is a sublime notion, one only John Waters could author, yet there is little else in this picture to match such clever subversion.
If only this could have been conceived when its auteur was naughtier (and independently budgeted). But then we wouldn't have the maniacally delightful performances of Tracey Ullman and Selma Blair, clearly relishing their trash-wallow.
The headbanging gag is rich, but most everything else feels disappointingly tame. NC-17 for language; though I'm sure the ratings board is full of perverts.
