Review of A Detective from Bengal (2011) by Brian F — 30 Apr 2011
An interesting blend of intimate family doc, crime investigation and also the incorporation of Bollywood themed dancing makes this entry a little different in a good way since it avoids general categorization.
Rajesh is definitely inspiring in terms of how he keeps his mens spirits up as they try to solve various murder, corruption, and adultry cases by taking his men to dance classes to bond and rejuvenate their souls after a long days work.
The message makes the film really ring true although with how jolly and catching the music is makes the more serious a tad too light to make the lifting moments hit the way thy should. Enoyable light.
