Review of A Day Off (1968) by Brandi F — 14 Oct 2007
I liked it. It's always inconvenient when the fiance and the prospective sister-in-law are in opposition to the fiancee and her father about such things as money and status and the meaning of life.
But we all liked Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn; they did acrobatics. And they had fun friends, who mocked Caligula and preferred the playroom to the uppity ball downstairs. :-).
The brother was another interesting character; he always buckled under to their father, and took out the change in drink, but at the same time he played the Fool, speaking truths no one else could say.
This story was originally a stage play, and the movie strongly reflected that.
So yes. I liked it. :-).
