Review of A Day Off (1968) by Willie J — 10 Jun 2014
Katharine Hepburn and Cary Grant, the two biggest stars of there era have a chemistry in their four collaborations that eludes non-stop laughter and impeccable timing. "Holiday", a film that explores the theme of chosing upper-class affluence and hard working roots. Cary Grant gives one of his finest performances as an up-and-coming lawyer who finds out his fiance is apart of one of the wealthiest families in New York. He eventually falls in love with her sister (played by Katharine Hepburn), and in a series of hilarious dialogues and comedic situations. This social commentary is a lost gem in the filmography of the great George Cukor, who directs this picture like he did his others comedies, with wit and comedic flow.
"Holiday" is a lost classic that brings together the biggest stars of all-time, who gives some of their wittiest and finest performances in their careers.
