Review of A Dangerous Method (2011) by Kimberly B — 06 Jul 2012
You have to be really, really interested in the history of psychology to find this movie interesting. I am somewhat interested in the whole Freud/Jung thing, and so this movie was somewhat interesting, if slow and very "play-like.
" As I was watching this movie, I wondered if it had been a play first. At the end, I read that it had been based on a play. This explains the heavy reliance on dialogue, the lack of action, and the generally rather stiff nature of the whole thing.
Acting was decent, and Keira Knightley was impressive, if maybe a little over-the-top at the beginning. Thank goodness she dropped that all that once things got underway. All in all, pretty dry and pretty slow but somewhat interesting.
