Review of A Cure for Wellness (2017) by Anthony F — 19 Feb 2017
This film is EVERYTHING. Full of suspense: I did not notice how long it was until after the film, when I realised I've been biting my fingers for 2.5 hours.
It masterfully handles every possible horror/sci-fi movie trope and toys with convenances, exploring ideas inspired by such classics like "Shutter Island", "The Bride of Frankenstein" or "The Attack of Giant Leeches". Weirdly, gives a bit of "Phantom of the opera" vibe, too. Stunning visuals, eerie music and great cast make it 100% worthwhile.
The only disappointment is the end, when the archvillain turns into Hulk and for a brief second and all you can do is pray that the gates of hell will open and nicely wrap the whole story in flames of eternal damnation. Still a good film, tho.
