Review of A Cock and Bull Story (2005) by Ville V — 02 Dec 2007
On the surface it is an actually funny comedy (which is very rare and a great achievement in itself), but inside it is also a very deep and thoughtful analysis of storytelling in general. Very human with several overlapping layers of themes and plots and realities, but never seems actually convoluted.
The very subtle exploration of Coogan's relationship with his wife and son has got to be one of the most touching, concrete and magical things I've seen on film in a long time.
