Review of A Cock and Bull Story (2005) by Ben L — 21 Feb 2007
After pondering this film for several days, I'm still not sure what to say about it. It's a kalidescopic film that is, above all else, a study in chaos, we also see the madness of making an unfilmable novel into a respectable film as the star is in constant fear of losing his machismo, making every effort to boost his ego.
Without any pretense, director Michael Winterbottom masterfully handles the material, gently guiding us through the chaos and referring back to the natural order of things wherever he can.
The cherry on top of it all is the relentless bickering of Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon; particularly the Pacino impressions during the end credits.
