Review of A Clockwork Orange (1971) by Dan H — 04 Nov 2012
A tragic, dark, disturbing and thought-provoking film. A violent youth with sociopathic tendencies is chosen to test out a new procedure that could potentially "cure" him, but the result is torturous, leaving him a helpless, damaged man.
The film takes a look at human nature and behavior, asking tough questions that do not produce any easy answers. Is Alex post-procedure better than Alex pre-procedure, is Alex ever really cured/changed, is it wrong to rob a man of himself, what effects can changing a man's nature have on him? A very interesting, and at times hard to watch film.
Definitely recommended.
