Review of A Clockwork Orange (1971) by Alex H — 28 Dec 2012
Damn, this is one of the strangest (and weirdest) movies I have ever seen. What i'm impressed with the most about this movie is how we feel sympathetic towards Alex even though he is one of the most cold-blooded and vicious criminals i've ever seen in a movie (possibly in real life).
You would think that if his own gang of bad guys would think he was evil, that that would make him less sympathetic to us during the second half of the film, but no, it doesn't. it's also filmed very strangely.
The score is one of the weirdest scores I have ever heard, and some of the scenes (ex. where Alex has sex with the two girls, or when Alex attacks his gang just before doing the cat lady) that were film the way no other filmmaker except Stanley Kubrick could film it in.
I still prefer the Shining over this, but it still is one of his best films.
