Review of A Civil Action (1998) by Ryan K — 26 Jun 2010
This movie is all about civil litigation and on that alone it interested me mildly as the Law is a pretty interesting subject in my opinion. That said, it is highly forgettable. It doesn't ever reach higher than mediocrity and so thats where it stays. It has a few interesting scenes but the ending left me unsatisfied and I've never been a big John Travolta fan.
The best part of this film was William H Macy as the legal accountant. The most interesting dynamic of the movie was the idea of a very small law firm trying to stay a live in a lengthy civil trial. They have beyond serious money problems and have to sell off almost everything they have just to stay afloat. If you are interested in movies about class action law suits then you will probably enjoy this one.
