Review of A Christmas Story (1983) by Nelson P — 30 Nov 2010
Regardless of its age, it still remains one the greatest and most cynical movies about Christmas. We all know what Christmas is all about for most people and this movie explores the consumer/capitalist aspect of the holiday, which is the only side when you're a kid.
Unlike most movies revolving around Christmas, the main character who's obsessed with the "Things" never overcomes his narrow view of the holiday, absolutely no arc or life lessons learned here, only if you want something really bad, you'll get it.
Its a classic that's hard to beat when you wanna watch a Christmas movie.
