Review of A Christmas Story (1983) by Edgar C — 24 Dec 2011
Just before anything is said, this is a bizarre movie... and bizarre to the extreme. Analyzing this oldies, you can clearly see why Hollywood does what it does nowadays. It's not that they don't know that the stunts, plots and ideas they release are dumb; the problem is that they think that copying the same formula and inventing new situations for themselves is going to solve the problem and will make people laugh successfully. But the essence is in its atmosphere: the cult, the 80s, the non-CGI effects, the polished screenplays (the adult voice-over has some umbelievable dialogue that does not forget the psychological details contained in a book),the everything that was defined by the original's movie era.
Watch this. You'll watch the same thing you have seen for your entire life, only it is not.
82/100.
