Review of A Chinese Ghost Story II (1990) by Mirkka S — 23 Jan 2008
Not quite up to the standards of the first movie, but still a well made Hong Kong film. The story continues smoothly from the first, although Wu Ma is absent for too long! He is kind of replaced by Jackey Cheung who provides, and is the catalyst for, some very funny scenes.
Joey Wong and Leslie Cheung work well with each other as expected. But the end of the film didn't quite click with me - it felt they were trying to match the original and as such it feels slightly repetitive.
But that is only a minor complaint, the film is highly entertaining and well worth a look.
