Review of A Chinese Ghost Story II (1990) by Charles H — 15 Jan 2009
Turn off your brain for the next two hours. You won't need it. Chinese Ghost Story II is a typical Hong Kong film from the early 90's. It blends the supernatural, romance, comedy, and kung fu. The saving grace is that the movie never pretends to take itself seriously.
That gives the audience license to sit back and enjoy the frequent jokes and pratfalls. Jacky Cheung gives a standout performance as a magical, martial monk.
