Review of A Bucket of Blood (1959) by Kevin M. W — 31 Jan 2016
You're a real artist.
A very unique artist is frustrated by the consistent lack of talent feedback he receives. He finds a unique form of art in plastering dead animals that quickly takes off. As the demand for his arts rises so does the magnitude of the pieces he sells...
"What's it called?".
"Dead cat.".
Roger Corman, director of House of Usher, Little Shop of Horrors (1960), The Terror, The Raven, Tales of Terror, The Wasp Woman, Bloody Mary, and Pit and the Pendulum, delivers A Bucket of Blood. The storyline for this picture was straightforward but the main character was quirky and well done. The cast delivers very solid performances and includes Dick Miller, Ed Nelson, Bert Convy, Barboura Morris, and Julian Burton.
"He might take you in his magic hands and bring from your marrow wonders.".
I came across this on Turner Classic Movies (TCM) this past Halloween season and had to DVR it. This was above average due to the great performance by Dick Miller. This may not be an all time classic, but it is worth viewing once for fans of classic horrors.
"Dead. Dead. Dead.".
Grade: C+.
