Review of A Bridge Too Far (1977) by Alex A — 15 Aug 2007
One of the all time great war movies. Great atmosphere and fantastic casting with many of the greatest performers of all time showing up. It isn't short and it does drag in places, but the goal was historical accuracy as with the book (not a novel as described in the synopsis, but a history book).
When this was originally aired on television is needed to be broken up over two nights. In the end a screaming indictment of military leaders who blind themselves to reality to kiss their superior's asses.
Strangely relevant to what's going on today.
