Review of A Better Tomorrow II (1987) by A. P — 17 Feb 2006
John Woo said he never do any sequels but he did after "A better tomorrow" part one was so successful, still today one of the most successful films ever in Hong Kong. To date though this is Woo's only sequel and we can see why he doesn't like them.
The script here is inferior to the first film but we do see Woo's sense of action develop further. With the final shootout a standout, where well over 100 gangsters get mowed down by our three main heroes.
Overall a step sideways but a good film to express a greater style for Woo before he'd conduct his masterpiece, that is, the Killer.
