Review of A Better Life (2011) by Enno J — 04 Feb 2012
Although the film is uneven at first; at about the midway point it becomes poignant, relevant and touching. When all the other characters are skimmed from the plot and the film becomes quieter and less obvious this film begins to shine.
Very reminiscent and similar to the Italian neo-realist classic, "The Bicycle Thief." Damien Bichir is the only character that feels real and thus gives a greatly nuanced and near-perfect performance.
