Review of A Better Life (2011) by John H — 22 Jan 2013
One of this year's best films is a neo-realistic masterpiece that seems a bit like a modern updating of Roberto Rossellini's "The Bicycle Thief." However, it goes far beyond that to explore father-son relations and the plight of illegal imigrants in the US.
A terrific cast of unknowns gives the movie a real-life feel. A touching, harrowing and ulitimately sad movie that will keep you thinking about its subject matter for days after you see it. Absolutely wonderful.
