Review of A Beautiful Mind (2001) by Severi J — 11 Jan 2013
Gripping and heavily romanticised biopic based on the life of mathematician John Forbes Nash, who was a genius but also a schizophrenic. The hard hitting difference between his real life and his imagined life is almost frightening, and the delicacy of the love story with his wife is aided by the wonderful chemistry between Connelly and Crowe; the latter actually delivers one of his best performances ever.
In the end, the film may be a little too melodramatic, but the strong performances make it believable and moving.
