Review of 99 Homes (2015) by Terry I — 12 Oct 2015
Michael Shannon hits it out of the ballpark. And the story starts out with interesting nuances of morality. But the denouement rang hollow and seemed one-sided in a heavy-handed way. Every mortgagee is portrayed as a victim of the big, bad banks with no culpability.
And even though the final foreclosure could have been delayed legally, that was only due to a technical, clerical error not because the the mortgagee was timely and faithful with his payments. Hence, it only scratches at the surface of the history of the financial crisis.
