Review of 99 Homes (2015) by Ryan A — 13 Oct 2015
Only a few Old Geezers Who Go To The Matinee Alone for this odd little movie. It is about the personal side of the Bush 2008 housing market collapse. The movie is mostly the interactions between Michael Shannon, an unscrupulous real estate guy (btw Shannon is, in my opinion one of the great actors working today) and Andrew Garfield (Spider Man) a home owner who is evicted from his family home and then becomes involved in the shady real estate market.
The only other 'big name' actor is Laura Dern as the mother. The movie is surprisingly suspenseful as you know something is going to happen. It builds nicely to a dramatic climax. This movie held my attention and all in all I'd recommend it.
