Review of 9 Songs (2004) by Marshall S — 20 Dec 2007
So here it goes, this is the most sexually explicit movie that I have ever seen, but don't think that is why I love this movie. That is part of it but there is so much more. This is a short movie about the love of two people over the course of one year.
During this year they go to 9 different concerts around London. In between the songs we get a glimpse into the lives of the couple, there ups and downs of their relationship. I love this movie so much because of its realism.
The movie paints the picture of real love and sex. That sex is more meaningful when it is about making your partner happy and when you are responsible. It also also portrays sex honestly, with people being ashamed of their figures and with the normal sex acts of couples.
In some films nudity is sort for the audience not really about the directors vision, but here the movie runs home with us looking into their lives so the nudity and sexual habits that we see are as if no one is watching.
We are watching a couple be a couple, with all their failures and triumphs, and the development of their love and trust. This movie leaves you with the message that love is fleeting and you should enjoy it while you can.
That is why I love this film.
