Review of 88 Minutes (2007) by Alexandra P — 29 Nov 2009
For every Al Pacino movie, it is a must for me to watch it, and 88 minutes wasn't special at all. In all honesty, I have mix emotions. The concept of the story is simple and a bit too cheesy to have a superb actor like Al Pacino in it.
Nevertheless, Dr. Jack Gramm (Pacino) is responsible for putting a notorious serial killer and rapist behind bars known as Jon Forster (Neal McDonough). 9 years later, Gramm receives an anonymous phone call saying that he has only 88 minutes to live.
Why 88 minutes? You just have to watch it to find out. The problem of this movie is that the plot can be very confusing, and it feels like every person that Gramm meets throughout the story are suspects so the end climax doesn't have that surprise feeling.
There's no twist at all and very... not special. The positive side is that it keeps the audience seated, intrigued and interested until, unfortunately, a poor climax.
