Francois Ozon is probably better known in the US for that sexy film about youth and jealousy, Swimming Pool, but here it all reminds me of that scene from Gentleman Prefer Blondes, you know, with Marilyn Monroe winsomely fanning off suitors.
This time, the genders are switched and it's a murder mystery a la Clue, so the plotline doesn't match but check out the colorful set design and fanciful music montages! By the end, do you really care who killed Marcel? Pas du tout.
..yet it's so French, I love it.
