Review of 8 Seconds (1994) by Adam C — 14 May 2009
This movie should be dropped into a vat of milk and left to curdle and age for like 27 days because it was so fucking cheesy.
The biopic of bull rider Lane Frost is interesting. Obviously the story is a sad one, despite Hollywood taking liberties with the details but the ending in which his death is thrown into slowmo, the bull's eyes turn red and appear to blow steam (I thought I saw steam, but I could have been just really tired) seems to be bullshit.
I think it would have been much better to, instead of rushing the ending to fit some time frame, if this part would've been dragged out more. Really lead up to the events of that days and make it more dramatic.
Really, the most compelling part of the ending was Tuff Hedeman's ride in honor of Lane at the PRCA's in Las Vegas. I don't know if those were more Hollywood liberties... but I doubt it. This part of the film was very touching.
