I think the genre of Hip-hop used to have some really talented people, but most of them never really amazed me as actors. That's not the case with 8 Mile. Eminem nails it in this role, giving a very realistic performance, though it isn't surprising considering this is what his life used to be like.

The script is also very good. All the dialogue feels natural, especially the rap battles, giving you the feeling the actors chose to rap instead of just following a scripted sequence. To be honest, I would describe the whole movie as a piece of hard hitting naturalism.

This isn't just a movie that pays tribute to Eminem's youth, it's a movie that displays the hardships many Americans face everyday. It's a movie about motivation and opportunity that really explores the definition of success.

I don't care if you hate rap, this movie like I just said isn't about the rapping, it's about life and reaching your goals.
