Review of '71 (2014) by Stuart P — 29 Apr 2015
Jack O'Connell continues to build upon his record for picking quality movies with interesting characters and great stories with this film based upon the conflict in Northern Ireland. Here he plays a soldier looking forward to being dispatched to Germany but instead finds himself sent to Northern Ireland to "police" the streets of Belfast. While there he gets seperated from his unit during a riot and from here the film turns into a sweaty palm inducing thriller as he is hunted down by both the IRA and suspicious British soldier types who are up to no good.
Well worth seeing, Jack O'Connell is a British talent worth following. I hope he continues to make wise choices with the roles he is offered.
