Review of 6 Bullets (2012) by Cameron H — 28 Sep 2013
From the moment you see Jean-Claude Van Damme's name on the screen you say to yourself "Oh, this is going to be THAT kind of movie" and you'll be right. There's plenty of flying fists, firing guns, and flame filled explosions.
In this movie a father, who is a mixed martial arts fighter, stops at nothing to save her daughter who is kidnapped by an underage prostitution ring. The father hires a former mercenary turned butcher to assist.
The worst part of the film was the actress who played the kidnapped daughter. In every scene, she was way too calm for a naive American girl being held captive by Eastern European thugs. I thought to myself, how is it possible with so many aspiring young actors out there to end up casting a lousy actress.
Either the scouting was poor or it was nepotism. The latter is quite possible, considering Van Damme's daughter is cast in the film. A little over the top, as Van Damme movies tend to be, but overall it was a pretty good movie.
An exciting thriller similar to "Taken" (2008). I'm just wondering what's happening to Van Damme's career that he's making direct to DVD movies.
