Review of (500) Days of Summer (2009) by Tero H — 21 Oct 2012
A nice comedy with nice acting and story. I think its not what one expects, though, which is by itself very suitable for this film's story.
The female character seems like a nice person, but my first thoughts were about her were that she was not someone he could trust the way he obviously did. Which turned out to be true. Not that I was labeling her a bad person - she told him up front what it was all about, but he neglected her. So in a way this whole film is a warning, a movie about the strenght of a person's expectations - the rosy red colored eyeglasses - and the harshness of the difference to reality. Not judging though - one would have been done for just as easily. Summer character is a bit eccentric, in a funny way, and has unexpected mannerisms.
Its a fun film, though, and easy to watch. Its also short enough, yet it has lots of content. And all characters are well thought of and mostly funny. So its a nice comedy with some things that one would not expect. Some of the scenes are very funny too, and its a well-done comedy.
I am not sure whether it was only me, but I thought that Summer looked like the singer Katy Perry, and Tom looked like Keanu Reeves. Its not at all what one might call stereotypical movie. It's nice that I saw this film. The ending was fun.
