50/50 is aptly named because of the 50/50 distribution of comedy and drama. But there really isn't anything about the film that is particularly extraordinary. And without a discernible tone or style to it, the film feels slightly flat at times.
However, the film is emotionally effective, it does make you laugh and cry. The result is a decently-made, effective, but ultimately forgettable dramedy.
