Lord of the rings with samurai. Sounds good. Is good. Just not great.
This film boasts some great set pieces, a very fine art design and some top of the line visual effects.
Sure the story loses some of its original power once it receives the "western gloss treatment" but they stuck to their guns on some of the less Hollywood story elements and that's a good start.
And hey, it's better than three of the four pirates of the Caribbean movies!
