This was way above average for a killer animal survival movie. Don't let the synopsis fool you, most of the movie does not take place in the shark cage. I was expecting this to be very contrived & formulatic, but had many twists & surprises.

It never seems to go to the obvious place, a lot of these movies do. The acting was all great, Clair Holt (The Originals, Vampire Diaries, Aquarius) continues to do strong work here. Mandy Moore is at her best, she is always great to watch, but her acting can sometimes border on flat.

Here she is very believable in her first Thriller! The shark effects are also top notch, very realistic. If you like survival movies, you will love this! Also horror fans there are several jump scares!
