Review of 47 Meters Down (2017) by Jennifer H — 03 Apr 2018
On the grounds that "isolation horror in impossible to reach places" has such an appeal to Americans, this average independent shark movie grossed $35 million more than it cost to make. Great advertising successfully diluted society into thinking that the movie would have something spectacular in its bone structure, yet alas; it is just another stick in the mud of survival horror that's built on terror and talk, instead of expensive CGI.
Despite all the undeserved glamour, I highly respect the film's resourcefulness to turn a straight-to-video horror movie into such a financial success.
