Well directed as far as it goes - mostly dependent on jump scares - this is yet another ditzy girls in peril at sea, or rather undersea, entertainment. It does exactly what you'd expect, but relies a little too much on predictable plotting and self-indulgent pacing.
Spielberg did this thing with greater wit and economy - although the CGI sharks here are more believable.
