Review of 45 Years (2015) by Doyle R — 23 Jan 2016
There is so much in this film that is unsaid, yet resonates quite loudly. Something British actors and directors seem to do particularly well. I was really fond of Andrew Haigh's last film, "Weekend.
" His direction in this film is equally spare and precise. His choices as a director are always very simple and subtle, and never overshadow the story or its characters. The script is fascinating.
And the performances by Charlotte Rampling and Tom Courtenay are just perfect.
