Review of 45 Years (2015) by F V — 13 Feb 2016
This movie is a testament to British reserve. There is a lot of talking but very little of it is meaningful. Based on the revelations about the husband's past love, there should have been a lot of in depth, heartfelt discussion about just what his wife found when snooping through his personal pictures and mementos from the past.
She instead chooses to not reveal what she knows. Truly incredible and implausible unless she actually no longer cared about him. Loved the music. When the song "We've already said Goodbye" came on, you could pinpoint the exact moment when she felt that chill in her heart while sitting in the attic alone looking at private pictures of her husband's previous lover.
Perhaps this could be taken as a cautionary tale. Talk about everything in your marriage, sad or otherwise or you are just slowly coming to the inevitable "goodbye." A long, slow slog through a marital communication impasse, but Ms.
Rampling was truly lovely.
