Review of 0.45 (2006) by Daniel S — 29 Feb 2008
This really is an awful movie. Its one saving grace is the quality of the acting, which is really quite good. The story itself is a tediously inevitable tale of abuse and retribution, which could have been told just as well in a 7 minute short.
At least then it would have spared 85 minutes of my life that could have been put to better use. Establishing the setting and the characters takes about an hour, and this is followed by twenty minutes of actually telling the revenge part of the story.
In this, Milla's character treads the disappointing path of 'empowering' herself by fucking her way through most of the cast to get what she wants. This isn't courageous revenge, it's cowardly and callous misuse of those around her, putting herself not really morally above the guy she is getting revenge on.
Tedious, predictable and soulless. Watch something else.
