Review of 44 Inch Chest (2009) by Piers T — 29 Apr 2010
Louis Mellis and David Scinto, who unfortunately broke up their writing collaboration three years ago, once again prove their talent at infusing profanity comically and poetically into their dialogue. Unlike their previous efforts, Gangster No.
1 (Paul McGuigan,2000) and Sexy Beast (Jonathan Glazer,2000), this piece is merely set amongst gangsters and by no means should be categorized as a gangster movie. This is a story that illustrates the direct aftermath of a break up and the mental anguish that accompanies one.
It boasts a plethora of great British actors including Ray Winstone, Ian McShane, John Hurt, and Tom Wilkinson and is remarkable debut for director Malcolm Venville. Watch it You C***s!
