Review of 44 Inch Chest (2009) by Manny C — 23 May 2010
A band of old geezers plan to take revenge on the French pretty boy who made off with their best mate's (Ray Winstone) wife. That band includes Ian McShane, Tom Wilkinson, John Hurt and Stephen Dillane, all joining Winstone in the plethora of Mamet-like dialog (and by that I mean they swear a lot).
The script was cooked up by Sexy Beast scribes Louis Mellis and David Scinto, but unlike that film subversive power and wit, this film, directed by Malcolm Venville is nothing more than a tired exercise in male blustering and borderline mysogyny.
This movie sucks.
