Review of 44 Inch Chest (2009) by Aidan H — 13 Feb 2011
When you watch this, it feels like a stage play adapted for screen without anyone bothering to change much about it. Everything from the camera work to the rhythm of the dialogue screams the heavily staged world of rep theatre.
However, as far as that sort of thing goes, it was incredibly entertaining. John Hurt is as brilliant as ever and I even quite liked Ian McShane. Ray Winstone plays a quiet version of his usual thuggish self and there's even a cameo by Steven "I don't know why I get respect, but I do" Berkoff.
Worth a watch.
