Review of 42nd Street (1933) by Brian M — 24 Sep 2007
In Glorious B&W.. Warner Brothers bet the farm on this in 1933. If it had tanked the studio would have gone under! Busby Berkely made arguably the best musical of all time. The score by Warren and Dubin is top notch even today and the camera weaves about eh set like a dancer.
. An all round great film.. Al Jolson's wife Ruby Keeler steals the movie as the girl from the chorus who becomes a Broadway star..
